Westendorf is situated at 800 meters above sea level in a beautiful sloping valley in Brixental, Austria. The settlement can be traced back to the Old Stone Age, around the 18th Century BC, as a stop off on one of the old Alpine passes. Today, the resort manages to keep its idyllic and charming appeal, while offering modern amenities and facilities to the many visitors each year.
The resort was once just a village to be traipsed through on a passage from Holland or Germany to Italy, and now it is a successful skiing village in its own right, with a population of 3,477 people. The village grew up around agriculture, and there is the opportunity to visit the local schnapps distillery which is still in operation today.
