Interesting facts about the resort
The town was a victim of the Thirty Years War in the 1600s in which most of the village was destroyed. Galtur hasn't been a village of wealth; in the 19th century all that existed were 8 houses, an inn and a church. Tourism picked up in the 20th century and the resort became very popular due to the amazing quality of piste, with over 40km of runs and 3 ski routes.
