Finkenberg ski resort

Finkenberg is a small austrian ski resort which can be found overlooking the town of Mayrhofen on a plateau at the entrance to Tuxertal, by the Hintertux glacier. As a member of the Zillertak Mountain National Park, its picturesque attributes and stunning views across the glacier entice visitors to return year after year.

Interesting facts about the resort

Being Austria’s only all year round ski resort, Finkenberg is well known for its beautiful powder snow, which is guaranteed to fall between October and May each year. Providing skiers with 86 powder snow pistes, the Hintertux glacier has been named as one the best ski areas in the world.

Why choose Finkenberg ski resort?

Finkenberg offers 245 km of snow pistes which are accessed by 77 ski lifts and cable car systems. Being within easy reach of the Penken ski area, Finkenberg is great for skiers of all ages and abilities due to the variety of runs available and is most suited to those looking specifically for a fantastic ski and snowboarding area as opposed to wild nightlife. A resort which is favoured by families, Finkenberg has a traditional and family friendly atmosphere, which is impossible to ignore. If you’d like to view a piece of the local history, you can visit the nearby Devils Gorge Bridge and view some of the authentic Tyrolean timber construction.

Facilities and activities

There is a lot to take advantage of when staying in this town. With over 30 bars and cafes there are plenty of places to dine out, or if you’re interested in some more educational ways to spend the day there are various attractions including an Alpine Cheese Factory which shows the process of creating traditional Austrian cheeses. Also available are activities such as tobogganing, curling, and ice-skating on the natural ice-rink. There are also plenty of hiking trails along with cave trekking and canyoning experiences. Another option to consider is booking a skiing holiday in Obergurgl, another Austrain resort ripe with activities.
