A panel of Finnish ski tourism industry experts select Yllas as the Finnish Ski resort of the year 2007.
Increased visitor numbers, improved facilities and more job opportunities for local people were only few of the reasons that convinced the panel and secured Yllas this year's top spot. The panel were also particularly impressed with work Yllas has been putting towards improving the resort safety and gave credit to staff working in and around the resort for continuosly striving to exceed customer expectations.
The Ylläs resort area consists of seven fells and two original Lappish villages. At 718m, Ylläs fell itself is one of the highest fells in Finnish Lapland. With 58 slopes and 330 km of cross-country ski-trails, Ylläs has become one of the biggest winter holiday resorts in Finland, without losing any of its Lapp charm.
Ylläs is also home to the longest downhill runs in Finland and in addition to skiing, visitors can try husky, reindeer, Icelandic pony or snowmobile safaris, snowshoe hiking, kick-sledding, ice-fishing and several other outdoor winter activities.
