Pas de la Casa/Grau Roig has plenty of chairlifts so snowboarders, especially beginners, will find it easy to get around. The snowpark and half pipe Coma III in the Grau Roig area in the main meeting place for boarders and this is also where the new high speed 6-seater has been installed. Andorra is a country which has been welcoming snowboarders since the sport began to take off in the 80s. Consequently, many of the major surf and boarder cross competitions are held here.
The British Snowboard Championships have been held here several times and won by Jamie Phillip, a Brit who has lived in Andorra most of his life. 2000 saw the largest gathering of snowboarders ever in the Pyrenees for the V Snowsurf competition where there were nearly 1,000 competitors. All the big names in boarding were there with the latest brands in clothing and equipment on show. The competition was made up of 2 races, one boardercross and one big jump.
