Montchavin is ideally located in the La Plagne area in France. With over 225 km of piste, spread over a vast 2,000 metre vertical offers some of the best skiing that you will find anywhere. Another bonus of skiing in this area is the six day pass that allows you to ski in the Savoie ski area. This entitles you to skiing in such popular skiing destinations as L'Espace Killy and the Three Valleys area. A more convenient is the double cable car lift to Les Arcs, which combined with Montchavin creates the Paradiski ski area. All the villages in Montchavin are at a high Altitude so all the skiing above resort level is also above the treeline. All skiing that goes below village cuts through the forests on trails that cut down to Montchavin Les Coches and to Champagny. The routes down to Champagny are located over the back of the natural snowbowl. This last minute ski holiday resort is perfect for Intermediate skiers rather than 'die-hard' skiers as there is not a huge amount of black runs.

All that said, there are a great number of opportunities on hand to try like some of the fantastic off-piste skiing that is around. If you decide to enrol in one of the ski schools you will be taught all the necessary skills in order to attempt the 2,000 metre vertical off-piste trail down from the North of the Bellecôte glacier, rated as one of the hardest and most dangerous runs in the world.

There are some great nursery slopes at the villages in La Plagne with free lifts operating so that you can get the basics down without being intimidated by expert skiers or having to pay for lift passes and not really using them.
