The emphasis at Snowbird is on high quality health and leisure on and off the slopes. One of the resort's major assets is the Cliff Spa, one of the finest destination spas in the US, which occupies 28,000 square feet at the top of the Cliff Lodge. Here you will find workout rooms featuring Kaiser pneumatic resistance equipment and free weights, a full range of cardiovascular machines, an aerobic exercise room with suspended wood floor, 20 spa treatment rooms, separate women's and men's saunas, steam room, solarium, full-service beauty salon 60-foot rooftop pool and a giant whirlpool. Available body treatments include thallasotherapy, herbal wrap, mud baths, balneotherapy and facials - of which there are nine varieties. Massage is also taken to the level of a fine art with aromatherapy, Shiatsu, self-heating sea mud pack, herbal, salt glow and mud bath combinations all possible. Snowbird has a family tubing area, games rooms and swimming pools in each accommodation complex. Excursions are easy to downtown Salt Lake City, where you can visit the historic Temple Square, world headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (The Mormons), as well as the city's dynamic shopping district. In winter, the hot Utah Jazz NBA basketball team holds forth in the Delta Center downtown, and you can buy game tickets at Snowbird. Other spectator sports include the Utah Grizzlies hockey team at E Center. The turn-of-the-century silver mining town of Park City, with its myriad of boutiques and funky bars, as well as the bobsled and luge venues for the forthcoming 2002 Winter Olympics is also an easy drive as is Great Salt Lake, one of the natural wonders of the western United States. Other nearby attractions include the town of Heber with its famous vintage Heber Valley Historical Railroad, which makes excursions along the Provo River.
