Davos has Europe's largest natural ice rink and two artificial rinks where traditional and Bavarian curling may be practised along with ice sports such as skating, speed skating and hockey. A new multi-purpose sports centre next to the ice stadium has been built to high architectural and sporting standards in order to provide facilities for professionals as well as recreational visitors. It is one of the largest of its type in Europe and is used by international athletes for altitude training.
Unique attractions in Davos include the Kirchner Museum, the largest collection of work by eminent expressionist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. Other artists' work, including visiting exhibitions, are displayed at other galleries in the town. There are winter sport, medicine, toy and mining museums as well as the Milch Arena dairy farm. The brewery BierVision Monstein, dubbed 'the last stop before heaven' is another attraction.
Horse riding, tennis and squash are all available as is swimming at the public pool or one of five hotel pools open to non-residents. Back on the slopes options include the toboggan runs and paragliding or hang gliding. There are 84km (52 miles) of winter hiking paths.
