One of Alpbach's major year-round attractions is the indoor swimming complex complete with sauna, solarium, massage and 25 metre pool with waterfall and flume. The resort's Congress Centre was re-opened after extensive refurbishment in 1999 combining intelligent architecture and an idyllic mountain setting. It features two floors capable of accommodating up to 700 guests and state of the art conference technology. Other indoor options include a library. There's an outdoor curling rink where its possible to try curling, you can also take a horse drawn sleigh ride or wander on 50km (32 miles) of marked and cleared winter hiking paths. Excursions from the village are possible to nearby attractions such as the Medieval city of Rattenberg, Austria's smallest, famous for its glass industry for centuries, with the traditional craft still practised today. Innsbruck is just an hour away.
