Eating out in Zermatt

Zermatt boasts some 90 restaurants, making it once again one of the most significant winter sports destinations, this time for gourmet skiers. Apart from being able to sample local dishes from the Valais, guests will find restaurants catering for lovers of French, Italian, Japanese and Thai dishes. There are options to suit all tastes, and most budgets with popular choices including Chez Elsie, Le Mazot and pizza at the Northwall. Valais specialities include, raclette, fondue, mature cheeses, sausages, dried meats and rye breads. Local wines include Fendant and sparkling Arvine as well as the Goron and Gamay reds.
