Eating out in Kitzbuhel

Kitzbühel offers a far wider choice of dining experiences than is the norm for the Alps, where many resorts, even well known ones, merely have a wide range of hotel restaurants duplicating variations on traditional local cuisine. Kitzbühel offers local Tyrolean dishes of course, but has the added international dimension with Chinese, Italian and Mexican restaurants amongst the choice of 60 establishments. A popular culinary excursion is the evening gondola ride on Friday evenings to sample the fayre at the Hochkitzbühel mountain restaurant. Local special Austrian dishes include Wienerschnitzel, Gröstl (sliced potatoes with onions and cooked meat) and of course Apfelstrudel.
